The Night They Returned (2004)
There's just something about me that draws independent Canadian filmmakers into my web of evil. I'm not sure what it is. Maybe it's my ruggedly handsome lumberjack features, with my flannel shirts, beard, and silk bra and panties sets. Maybe it's my love of hockey. Maybe it's my unabashed appreciation of no-budget movies that makes me an appropriate target for their movies.

That brings me right around to this lovely nugget, Canadian DIY filmmaker SV Bell's latest bit of cinema, “The Night They Returned,” which features three of the hottest women I've ever seen in an independent film. Some top-notch eye candy here, folks.

When most 20somethings get out on their own, they go a little wild. When I went away to college, it was all about drinking, partying, and sex. However, when the Taggart sisters, Brenda (Melantha Blackthorne) and Tawny (LC favorite Suzi Lorraine) get out from under their father's thumb, their wild parties involve cannibalism, bloodlust, and murder. Needless to say, no matter how hot they are, I won't be bringing one of them home from the bar.

The only member of the family who really doesn't dig some gore festivals is little sister Jessie (Elizabeth Faure), who just so happens to possess psychic powers. That's why she doesn't dig on murder, because she actually can feel and see what Dinner is feeling and seeing, so it turns her off just as quickly as being chopped up turned off the unfortunate fellas seduced back into the hot blonde Taggart lair as dinner guests (and dinner).

And boy, do they ever eat. I've seen lots of movies with cannibalism. Mostly they involve the cannibals chewing at rubber guts, slapping them around a little bit, and calling it a day. However, fortunately, this film takes gut-eating one step further, outdoes other sexy cannibal horror movies like Brian Clement's “Binge and Purge,” and actually has the actresses eating the guts. For real. I don't know what they're made of, but the Taggart sisters gorge themselves in spectacular-looking edible entrails, and I see no visible grimaces, so they can't be that disgusting to eat.

The effects in this film are top notch. Your average no-budget movie is going to spend what little they pay out to make the movie on the special effects, and this movie is no different. SV Bell got some great returns on his money, too, because everything in this film from the entrails being eaten to the flayed-open corpses, to the corpse of dear old Dad look absolutely incredible. The severed human body parts look like the arms and legs of the person they were sawed off of, not just stock limbs found at the costume shop. There's even a combination film/animation montage sequence that doesn't disappoint. Toss in a little psychic power abuse and you've got yourself quite a little entertaining flick.

So long as you don't go in expecting a lot out of this film, you won't be disappointed. A big-budget horror movie it isn't, but the effects are great, it's well-acted (except for some of the voice-overs done by Elizabeth Faure, who sounds like she's reading off a cue card sometimes), and most importantly, it has the necessary quantity of wit to keep it moving along and entertaining.

Perhaps most importantly of all, it hearkened back to the glory days of the B movie, with the characters watching some old-school black and white films and also with a subtle nod to the monster movie glory days in the person of the “They” that returns to exact bloody vengeance on our cannibal cuties.

There will always be a soft place in my cholesterol-encrusted heart for a good, old-fashioned rubber suit monster. Give me a guy in a suit over a digital bullshit festival like the ass-end of “Boogeyman” any day. Both of them look fake, yeah; but one's a fake made with love and skill, and the other's a fake made by Photoshop. Head on over to the official site link above and get yourself a copy of this flick. You won't be sorry.

The Night They Returned (2004)
Brenda and Tawny Taggart are sexy, blond sisters who kidnap credulous men - just to kill'em and eat'em. Their little sister Jessica is not so fascinated by Brendas and Tawnys little hobby. The father of the family doesn't mind at all, although he's at home all the time. That's because Hank the father is dead.

SV Bell has created an entertaining, bloody and funny piece of sicko Creepshow parody here. There are the familiar cartoon relations and intentionally not-so-believable script that reminds (besides Creepshow) me of some Troma flicks with its toxic waste references, beautiful bad babes and entirely off-beat style.

Twin sisters are played by Melantha Blackthorne (Sinners and Saints) and Suzi Lorraine (Cold Blonded Murders), and they seem to have had fun filming The Night They Returned. That's also one of the main reasons the film entertains as much as it does. There is no high-quality acting here and not top-notch script involved, but these two lead actresses (along with Liz Faure, who plays Jessica) seem to know it. Yep, there are screaming bloody murders and extremely graphic cannibalism involved but all that is done with tongue-in-cheek.

One important thing that could be better with a little effort, is the use of camera. Too many times the camera operator doesn't really know what he's doing and it all seems unplanned. You can see that kind of camera work a lot in this genre, but for example the contrast to highly cool looking animation scenes is huge.

But also with its weaknesses, The Night They Returned is still a fun ride to exploitation, gore, splatter, horror and comedy. If you got the kicks from them, be sure go give this film the chance. And yes, The Night They Returned contains the best soundtrack in microcinema genre to date. I guess the best way to enjoy The Night they Returned is with pack of friends - and maybe w/ a pack of beer.

DVD contains also some fun extra material. For instance, there is included shots from "behind the scenes" and really wacko short film called "La Terreur Crampante" (directed by Mario Giguêre, in French). One thing I like about SVBI Films DVD releases, is that you can watch trailers of other microcinema flicks you wouldn't see anywhere else.

The Night They Returned (2004)
If ever there was a tribute movie made to honor the golden age of those hokey 50's b-movie's, this would be it. With buxom babes, gut wrenching gore, dubious lumbering monsters and clips borrowed from more obscure black and white horror fodder strewn through out this production, those with a fondness for the weird and gruesome will burst their pants over this gem.

Told from the memoirs of young Jessica (Faure) who has been confined to a mental institute, we discover that her life was once a crazy existence of mental anguish thanks to her two sick sisters Brenda (Blackthorne) and Tawny (Lorraine). The three sisters used to live together in a secluded cabin in the woods far away from prying eye's allowing them to indulge themselves in the seduction, torture and brutal slaughter of their kidnapped victims. But human flesh has always reviled Jessica and the fact that she also has the power of telekinesis means she is always chained to her bed whilst the blonde duo consume cuts of their victims.

When it comes to keeping the house tidy, there's nothing better than dumping all your left over body parts in the nearby lake, it saves on bin bags that's for sure. These girls might read Fangoria magazine but they sure don't know anything about mixing body parts with toxic waste but these scantily clad chicks are about learn the hard way.

This is Sv Bell's first feature film and having taken on the duties of scribe, producer and director it really is all down to him if this thing falls flat on it's arse. Being the visionary and the accountant can be a tough job but, if your aim is to produce an entertaining piece of b-movie exploitation, then my suggestion is to give the job to Mr Bell as he clearly knows his way around the genre. It's rough in places, as one would expect from a 5 day shoot on a budget of $1,800, but that's not really the point. This is a homage to other clunky movies who's low budget's have been stretched to breaking point whilst ensuring that the one thing people want from this type of movie is delivered - grisly fun with a side order of sauce.

Having seen much of Suzi Lorraine's work in the past (and being almost totally smitten by her girl-next-door cuteness) it was good to see her act in a straight-ish horror which didn't use her assets as the driving force for the movies story. The on screen chemistry between her and Melantha Blackthorne was convincing enough and gave me the impression that they both had a ball whilst shooting, even if Suzi's taste for flesh didn't allow her to actually chew on any real guts, as opposed to Blackthorne who gnawed away like she hadn't eaten in a month. On an amusing casting note, take a good look at the eye's of the guy who plays Uncle Jerry who's surprise at seeing his scantily clad niece induces a condition called 'crafty-boob-glance' which stricken's the poor man about 5 times during their scene, poor guy.

I don't think It would be too dramatic to say that the movies sound track was f*cking excellent! Never in all my years of watching micro budget productions have I been so amazed at the quality of the musical talent involved which is of such a high standard that it is actually on sale from Canadian company Bullseye Records. Little known bands like 'Moxy', 'Cheaper Than Therapy' and 'The Kings' kick out some top notch melodic rock tunes that work so well with the film demonstrating again just how crucial the sound track can be. Fledgling filmmakers take note.

But it isn't just the music that heightens the films panache. Thanks to the efforts of Texa F/X who's work in creating the guts and gore for the film ensures a constant nightmare for the carpet cleaners. Having also crafted the look of the killer sisters zombified father along with the finale monster and several severed arms and legs, you can thank them for your sudden lose of appetite.

So this film has a lot of trapping's found in other independent low budget productions such as poor sound balancing, focus issues and editing that slightly over cooks the ham, yet out of these failures rises a very entertaining movie that will appeal to all cult horror and b-movie lovers every where.

Horror Watch

Chills! Thrills! Girls! Gore!

Lookin' for hot chicks? Check! Lookin' for tons of cannibalistic gore? Check! Lookin' to have a purely rip-roarin’ kick-ass time watching indie horror? CHECK! I honestly can't remember the last time I had this much FUN watching an independent horror movie!

Tawny and Brenda Taggart are two extremely good lookin' twin sisters who've taken Atkins’ just a bit too far! You see, Tawny and Brenda love nothing more than to sit down to a nice fresh meal right in the middle of their living room. A meal of human flesh that is! Their telekinetic sister Jessica refuses to partake in the festivities because she can hear the pain and fear inside the victims heads. After dinner, the girls dump the remains of their victims in a nearby swamp. The swamp however is infected with biohazardous waste, so you can probably guess what's on the agenda.

Let me just say this, it ought to be illegal to have this much fun while at work. Judging by most of the "feasting" scenes, and the "behind the scenes" short, this entire cast had WAY too much damn fun making this movie! Why can't I have that kind of job satisfaction? Oh well, no use crying over spilled entrails. Also I completely misjudged Melantha Blackthorne, I had her painted out to be a really intense, serious type person, but she was the one who seemed to be having the most fun. Suzi Lorraine and Melantha Blackthorne played the "campy" roles very well though, and they were entertaining as hell! Especially during their murderous musical montage.

Added to the great "fun" vibe of the movie were some REALLY great gore EFX. I don't know how they did it, but usually movies of the "micro-budget" sort have some pretty basic, and often laughable gore EFX, definitely not the case in The Night They Returned. There are body parts and organs in these scenes that you would swear were harvested from a cadaver, either that or SV Bell trolled the streets of Wentworth, Quebec looking for suitable victims to donate organs and limbs. Really, the gore EFX are THAT good! Also worth noting is the cel shaded computer animation sequence that SV Bell worked into the movie, I was a bit worried at first, no one in indie has successfully pulled off any "computer generated" ANYTHING in my opinion, but it fits in with what's happening, and it's really well done. And finally the soundtrack is also outstanding!

Like I said, and if you can't figure it out, I really enjoyed watching The Night They Returned, I've been hounding SV Bell for a copy for quite some time now, and it was well worth the wait.

Not without it's problems, there are a few cases of poor acting (but only from a victim or two so it doesn't last long) and there are a few cases where the dialog got a little cheesy or could have been worded better, but that's me being nitpicky.

This really is a massively fun movie to watch, based on the amount of fun I had, the exceptionally good gore, the soundtrack, and wall to wall hotties, I think you'll agree. You'll laugh, you'll cringe, and you’ll drool uncontrollably.

I highly recommend it! It's a blast!

4 out of 5 HUNDRED feet of incredibly realistic bloody intestines!

The Night They Returned (2004)

"The Night They Returned" is definitely a step in the right direction when making a low budget exploitation film. You know how people always say, "Why did they have to spend all that money on this crap?" Well, they can't say that in this case because the film cost, get ready... $1,800.

No, I didn't forget a zero. That's what it says on the website: One thousand, eight hundred dollars.

I know what you're thinking: "This film must be the cheapest damn thing on Earth."

Surprisingly, no. I've seen a lot of movies with a LOT higher budgets that end up looking cheaper than this. (“Blair Witch Project”, for example, cost almost 15 times more) This is what I meant about a step in the right direction. If you're gonna make a horror/porn/gore film, don't go wasting money in a genre that's been reduced to a big cliché of itself because of the sheer number of movies that are released each year. Show how creative you are and make one for the least amount of dough!

So what do we get for a budget that's less than the cost of a '93 Dodge with a bad transmission? Well, the editing is pretty good, so is the cinematography. The makeup/gore effects are on par with most low budget 80's movies and there's even a few CGI effects thrown in. Hell, there's even a cameo by a porn star and two montages that work so well that you forget for a minute that this is a dirt cheap film.

The story will be familiar to anyone who knows his "evil redneck" genre well. The three crazy (but drop dead gorgeous) Taggart sisters live alone in the woods with their daddy who is umm... not feeling well. (Hint: He hasn't moved or talked in years) Two of the three are cannibals who lure men to their death. The third, Jessica, refuses to participate in the killings because she's a psychic and can feel the men's terror as they die. Of course, she's as crazy as her sisters so she doesn't oppose murder the same way you or I would. She just shakes her head and goes "Awwwww you GUYS! Not again!"

Okay, so this isn't Shakespeare. However the movie does built up to a cool-ish ending, which was probably the most expensive part of the whole thing. It involves a toxic waste monster, telekinesis and zombies with crowbars. That's like a thousand bucks right there.

Is it enough though? Ehhhhhh, keep reading.

“Night They Returned” is filled with clever touches but none of it is really explored. It's kind of sad, because you can tell that there's a half-decent flick buried under all the blood, sex and exploitation. Most of the problems can be blamed on the expectations of the genre, the minuscule budget and the rushed shooting schedule. However, writing doesn't cost a thing and that's one of the movie's main stumbling points. The story may be something that had been brewing in Bell's mind for a long while, but the script literally feels like it was written on the spot 5 minutes before each scene was shot.

Which leads us to the acting.

The short critique: it's not that great.

The long critique: the problem seems like lack of rehearsal. You get the sense that most of the shoot went like...

DIRECTOR: Hey Mel, here's your lines for this scene.
MELANTHA: What? I have lines for this scene???
DIRECTOR: ...and in 5, 4, 3...
MELANTHA: WaitaminuteIdon'tevenknowwhatI'msupposedtosay...
DIRECTOR: ...2, 1, ACTION!
MELANTHA: *reads real fast*
DIRECTOR: Mel GO!
MELANTHA: *acts* I wonder... *blank* uh... what's that uh... noise... outside?

Okay, it's not as bad as that (Although at times it comes close). I've seen some of this cast in another film I reviewed "Sinners & Saints" so I know they can act fairly well. It's just obvious that a lot of this was done in one or two quick takes.

In the end, I think the movie stands as a testament to how much digital filmmaking as a whole has improved. The film looks like it cost much more than it did. By all accounts this should be like watching someone's home movies, but it's not. It's equivalent to the low budget cheapie that started it all: “Blood Feast”. Except for the fact that this is shot on Digital Video rather than film; the acting, directing, writing and gore are all more or less on par with the older movie. Take that as either a warning or a recommendation.

So did I like it? In a word: No. (Meh, i'm not a big fan of “Blood “Feast”, either). However, I do think that this would be a fascinating movie to watch with a director's commentary. Meanwhile, with budgets like these if at first you don't succeed, try try again. Bell's got talent; no one manages to make a movie for 2 grand that looks this good without some measure of artistic capability. He just needs a better script.

The Night They Returned

Directed by: Sv Bell
Starring: Melantha Blackhorne, Suzi Lorraine,Liz Faure

Doesn’t it seem odd to be sadistic and brutal, yet at the same time be erotically beautiful? That seems to be the case in THE NIGHT THEY RETURNED. Jess (Liz Faure) seems to be the odd ball sister out of this family. Being the most intelligent of the family she’s the one who makes sure things don’t get too out of hand. Explaining her family to her doctor from a cell, she tells a tale of cannibalism. Her two sisters Brenda (Melantha Blackhorne) and Tawny (Suzi Lorraine) would tie her up and begin their feeding frenzy. They would head out on the town and lure un expecting doofs into their lair and commence the porn like eateries. Things seem kosher for them for some time. As luck would have it though, the creek they were dumping the limbs into seems to be a harbor for a toxic waste canister. The waste from the canister causes the body parts to fuse and make one ghetto sludge monster.

The see this flick and realize it was constructed from a crew of only 18, is completely mind boggling. SV Bells’ visionary style reminisces a little of Tarantino in its graphical erotic bloodbath. Stellar performances by Blackhorne, Lorraine and Faure are enough to arouse the imagination all the while grimacing from disgust. The excellent camera angles and original framing of scenes adds the characteristics of our Far East counterparts.

Blackhorne and Lorraine give us gleeful scenes of flesh munchings and gun masturbations that will get the pheromones flowing. THE NIGHT THEY RETURNED is just all out one super sweet ass flick. If you miss this flick, well your just a chode…This could very well be the best flick of 2004.

SSV - Screaming Stoner Video

The Night They Returned

Done in the same comic book vein as Creepshow is The Night They Returned by Canadian indie filmmaker (and all-around horror enthusiast) Sv Bell. This 77 minute horror yarn centers around the young Jessica Taggart (played by Liz Faure of Sinners and Saints) who just happens to be committed to an insane asylum for the dirty deeds of her naughty two older sisters Brenda and Tawny. As soon as she begins to tell the morbid story the viewer quickly discovers that Brenda Taggart (Melantha Blackthorne) is "the main baddie" who traps a majority of their male victims while Tawny Taggart (Suzi Lorraine) is the more domesticated of the bunch (not that she doesn't do her fair amount of killing and gut-munching). Poor Jessica never quite understood the methods of her siblings...

It seems that her sexy sisters Brenda and Tawny habitually chained Jessica up in the safety of her own bedroom while they would lure ill fated (and horny) males back to their isolated family cabin to be tortured, chopped into tiny pieces and eventually eaten! The two older sisters also have the strange habit of dumping the extra body parts into a local swamp filled with hazardous waste (think: Swamp of the Ravens) that eventually results in the arrival of a vengeful "returner." Who will survive the night that "they" returned? Get this film and see.

As stated above, The Night They Returned reminded us of Romero's Creepshow with the numerous editing tricks and fades that give it the fantasy feeling but it also has elements of Texas Chainsaw Massacre with the rotting "dad" the two girls keep in the house to oversee their many abominations. Still, there's really no comparing The Night They Return as it stands in a class of its own. Remember that feeling you had the first time you saw I Spit On Your Grave? This is the type of film that makes the viewer squeamish (that is if you're not too desensitized) and also one where you might just find yourself rooting for the "they" that The Night They Returned mentions. Make any sense?

One of the strongest aspects of The Night The Returned is the remarkable hard rock soundtrack from such great bands as Moxy, Rubber, Cheaper Than Therapy, Goddo, Jaimie Vernon, Soap Opera, and The Kings. Not only do these tracks grace the digital production but there's even a full-scale soundtrack available for The Night The Returned from Bullseye Records. Not to be missed. Be sure to catch the cool animated sequence sandwiched in the middle of the movie and the short cameo by Uncle Costa of Irish Whisky. Fun times, indeed.

Still, while The Night They Returned is gory goodness, there are several moments that feel extremely hurried and huge chunks of dialogue (mostly during Liz Faure's narration) that seem to be read directly from cue card and at times the audio is hard to hear. That being said, it should also be noted that these minor discrepancies seem to work to the overall advantage of this motion picture giving it that independent (if not somewhat raw) ambiance. For those of you not in the know - Sv Bell is an established painter of death metal album cover art who has recently set his focus on creating splendid low-budget horror flicks, rock videos and shorts like Irish Whisky and Cold Blonded Murders (co-directed by Patrick Aird). SSV has been impressed by what we've seen to date and we're looking forward to future works from Sv Bell - who in their right mind wouldn't?

This DVD features several decent extras and word on the street says The Night They Returned will see an even more "official" release in the near future. Still, this particular disc has Bios on Melantha Blackthorne, Suzi Lorraine and Elisabeth Faure in addition to the Trailer for The Night They Returned (also available at Bell's website). There's also a 3 minute Behind The Scenes done in true rock video form and a bonus 14 minute Short called La Terreur Crampante by Mario Giguère presented in the original French language. While we didn't quite understand this cool monster film we did enjoy the creature that looked oddly like a 70's Six Flags Magic Mountain Troll! Add to all that Trailers for Playing For Keeps, The Invitation, Haywire and Sinners and Saints. A great collection.

The Night They Returned is presented in the 1:85.1 widescreen format (catch the cool matting effects) with stereo sound.

Smoker's Soapbox:
We think it's pretty safe to say that The Night They Returned will not be a movie for everyone. Independent film buffs and those who love campy creature movies will absolutely love this movie. That's not to say there's not a real scary side to The Night They Returned because there are several moments that are downright chilling. Heading off with a sexy goth chick for "fun times" that result in your own murder are perhaps a man's worst (or best) nightmare!

Check it out.

Bum's Corner
http://www.bumscorner.com/Reviews/121304TheNightTheyReturned.htm

Pacing, pacing, pacing. That is the word of this review kids. Let's all say it together now; P-A-C-I-N-G. Very good. I bring this up, because this is the biggest flaw of The Night They Returned. There were just too many dead spots, but I'll get into that more in a moment. The Night They Returned is SV Bell's first feature length film. Like Cold Blonded Murders and Irish Whisky this is a very low budgeted movie...only longer.

The story is a mix of Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Carrie and Steel Magnolias. Okay, so maybe no so much of the Magnolias. Here's the story: Three sisters live in a house by themselves. While some woman would be little scared all alone in the woods, these sisters do not have any problem with it. They live with their dad, who is a rotting corpse, and can take care of themselves. Two of the sister's (Melantha Blackthorne and Suzi Lorraine) like to grab men, and kill them. Like Ted Nugent they do not just kill the men, they eat them. What parts they do not eat they just toss into the lake, which happens to be radioactive. The third sister, Liz Faure, is telekinetic. Yes, I said it she has the power of telekinesis. She gets handcuffed and drugged while all the sisterly "bonding" goes on with the men, because she cannot control her powers. Murders continue, and the lake fills with body parts. After a while though the parts want revenge, and with the help of the toxic waste this come to fruition. Hell of a story huh? There is a lot going on. The question is does all this work together? No. No it does not.

A lot is going on in the movie, but also not enough. This is where the pacing comes into play. Some parts of the movie feel more like a rock video. After 20 minutes of the same scenes of the two sisters munching on guts, I got bored. It's one thing to have a great soundtrack, but it's another to use recycled scenes just to be able to use the whole song. If you take away all the same gut eating scenes than this probably would not reach its feature length time frame.

Another problem was with the story. While the murderous sisters are great, the telekinesis aspect is worthless until the last 5 minutes of the film. I really could have gone without the third sister. Sorry Liz. The ending also just ended badly.

I know this is a lot of negativity to read, but let's get one thing straight. The FX are great. To read how much this movie cost to make amazed me. You would not ever think that little. This is a definite gift that all SVBI films have. They never make their budget a crutch. They make it a challenge, that they seem to always overcome. While the story is lacking the final battle made up for every single thing that I said bad about this film. It has got to be seen to be believed.

I liked this movie. Yes it had its flaws, but there is so much hope to be seen here. This is Bell's first feature length film. You learn from your mistakes. I honestly cannot wait to see what Bell has in store next. These films are fun. He has no budget, and it works for him. All this low budget fun has taken its toll on me. I now live on Ramen Noodles, Boones Farm, and toothless 2 dollar hookers. DAMN YOU SV BELL!!!

Kotone

The Night They Returned (2004)
The most recent splatter horror movie by Sv Bell, an independent filmmaker based in Canada.
Film is about these beautiful blondes dressed in sexy clothes, and living in this cabin in deep woods. They seduce men and take them over to their house, and kill them. They butcher their victims to pieces with saws and feast on them. They also keep parts in the fridge for eating later.
All over the film, the killings and cannibalism of these mad women goes on with non stop rock music. The girls are truly beautiful and the situations are grotesque while being colorful. There is this swamp next door, where floats a tank with the writings 'BIOHAZARD', and the girls tend to throw in some body parts and leftovers of their victims. Then during a full moon night, the tank let go some fluid in the swamp and the toxic mixture joints the various body parts in the bottom of the swamp, and ends up creating a monster. (If I dare compare it to something, I would say it is like the small brown HEDORA).

The monster attacks the house, kills the women and seeks revenge. However, the mummy the girls display in their house comes back to life, and gets into a fight with the monster.

The best feature film by Sv Bell, complete with a full animated segment in it to give the whole thing a comic book touch. It is a very pleasant horror, and one of the best independent horror movie in the world.

I hope Sv Bell this review website will be the entrance door for him to the Japanese market. He is a rising horror creator that needs to be followed closely in the future.

Film Apocalypse
http://www.angelfire.com/planet/filmapocalypse/tntr.html

The Night They Returned (2004)
Canadian film company SVBI Films delivers quite a treat with their first feature film, The Night They Returned. You'll find hot cannibal babes, telekinesis, corpses and plenty of gore in this classically campy horror flick staring Melantha Blackthorne, Suzi Lorraine and Liz Faure.

The basic plot revolves around a rather unusual family with some strange habits. From their cabin in the woods, two sexy sisters lure unsuspecting male victims into their world of cannibalism while a third sister is chained up, unable to stop her siblings from playing their bizarre games. The bound girl suffers through a telepathic connection with each victim and begs her dominant sisters to end their twisted, torturous games, but they refuse to listen. When they are through with their feast, the leftover body parts of the victims are dumped into a nearby swamp which, unknown to the sisters, is polluted with chemical waste. This vile concoction of chemicals and cadavers creates a mutant monster hell bent on revenge. Will the monster kill these viciously psychotic beauties or have their years of killing taught them all they need to know to destroy this rotting beast?

Considering the small budget, some of the props and effects are amazingly realistic! The production is above average for no budget films and if you're looking for gore, this film really satisfies! However, there isn't as much skin as you might expect. The ladies in the film do remain clothed throughout the duration of the movie. Overall, The Night They Returned is not bad at all for writer / director SV Bell's first foray into feature films!
